While the new tank design is still very much on the drawing board, plus I have to work out how I will fund it, I am continuing to work on the Airport Crash tender. I have done loads as you can see from the pictures and a few issues sorted out.
I have decided not to build the boom but instead go ahead with the top mounted turret. This is the main bearing which will support the turret.
Side doors fitted made from a couple of old baking trays.
Front section cut and ready for the lights7
Next step is to get the body trim panels fitted. A few have already been fitted but it will be some time before they are all in place.
There is no rush with completing this build as it will not be needed until March for its first show.
In terms of electronics I did a test run and the motor and steering work fine. The water pump system works and will take its water from two ten Litre tanks fitted onboard. Flow rate on the pumps will be about 6L/Min so following the same ratio as the real thing( the tank will be empty in just under two mins.
I have worked out a 4WD system but have not got around to building it yet, if I need it at all.
